Don’t take our word, take theirs…
The Precision Drive is the Overdrive pedal I always wanted and that I was kind of shocked no one had made. Given how many rock and metal musicians use ODs to boost and tighten their amps, I would have thought there might be a solution aimed at that crowd, but there just wasn't. So I figured I might as well bring that pedal to life, if anything, just so I could have it for myself!
The Precision Drive is an awesome addition to your rig if you want to breathe new life into your amplifier.
The Precision Drive gives me tone shaping options I always wish I had when it came to tightening up my gain tones. It has a distinct and unique character that compliments my sound in a way I never expected. In front of an amp or a modeler, and as a standalone distortion, the Precision Drive is everything I need in an OD pedal.
I can’t really fault it, to be honest. If you like progressive metal, you need one of these pedals.
Really like the attack and bright features which allow you to control how much of an effect you get from the pedal versus most overdrives where you are stuck with 1 tone (think smoother and chunkier at the lowest settings to edgier and tighter at the highest and everywhere in between). The built in gate is nice too , overall a deadly addition to the overdrive arsenal!
There are so many great overdrives available today. Some excel at pushing your amp into lead territory, while others work better at tightening and focusing your already driven amp. I have yet to find a single OD that is able to achieve both of these approaches as effortlessly as the Precision Drive. Between the Attack and Bright switch, you have enough control to shape the front end of anything you put it in front of. I use mine to tighten and focus my rhythm/riff sounds and it does exactly what I ask of it. I'm a big fan.
This one is cool! Real stringy, defined overdrive/distortion. You can get a lot of clarity and snap out of say, a neck humbucker, with this pedal.

Horizon Devices knew exactly what they wanted and they executed it beautifully. I dig the Precision Drive, and you will be seeing it in future videos.
This Precision Drive is awesome! I struggled with getting note definition on a lot of my other drive pedals. It all just sounded muddy... but the attack knob really helps notes cut through. The gate feature is really useful too for cleaning up gainy parts but also I find that this pedal interacts with my ac30 amp in a really cool way to produce really cool feedback. And on top of it all it makes an excellent clean boost!
Now you guys know I like things that are nice. And I am here to tell you, the Horizon Devices Precision Drive is indeed very nice. Plenty of gain on tap, a wide-sweeping tone control, an innovative “attack” adjustment to suit any tonal environment, and a dang smart and usable noise gate. It’s doggone dandy.
The Precision Drive is like a compressor, gate, drive, and boost pedal all rolled into one and kicks ass at all of these things!
The best thing to happen to my setup. It helps my mark v 25 get that extra punch and tightens up the flub on the low end. Super quiet and that noise gate works like a charm. Not only does it very much djent it does very well mid gain spanky overdriven tones. Oh and did I mention the sexy sleek very well put together probably can run it over with a tank build of a pedal! Definitely a great addition to any guitarists arsenal!
The Precision Drive has challenged me to think about guitar tone in a new way. I like being able to dial in punchy, yet clear modern rhythm tones without needing to slave over the minutiae. This pedal combines all the right building blocks and leaves out the unnecessary ones, making it incredibly easy for me to reproduce the tones I imagine in my head.
The Horizon Devices Precision Drive tightens up my low end and eliminates excess noise with its built-in noise gate. This pedal alone replaced my previous overdrive and noise gate for less than half the price of those other two pedals combined.
It fixed my sound in many different occasions...the noise gate is absolutely amazing!!!
I can't wait to add it to my rig!
The Horizon Devices Precision Drive has become a staple of my sound. It does everything I need and more, and I couldn't imagine my tone without it!
After only playing around with it for a bit I can easily say it's one of the best pedals I've ever used and I can't wait to mess around with it more!
Now, I can't cover up my mistakes with loose low end that gets buried in the mix. Also, this pedal turned all my crew necks into v-necks.
It's absolutely the best OD I've ever used. It makes my Rockerverb sound like an Orcish horde with comically large machine guns marching across a battlefield covered in kittens.
